iriver Ltd., the global powerhouse of digital A/V products, announced on Tuesday that its eBook reader ‘Story’ won Gold accolades at the prestigious international Forum (iF) product design award 2010 held in Hannover, Germany.
There were 2,486 entries from 1,016 companies in 39 different nations for this year's award, with 778 productsselected. Among the selected were iriver’s four products – two eBook reader models; ‘Story’ and ‘Story Package’, as well as its ‘Domino Inflate’ flash USB memory device and ‘Dicple D1000’ electronic dictionary. In particular, ‘Story’ and ‘Domino Inflate’ received Gold awards which are only given to the top 50 products from selected entries.
iriver’s ‘Story’ eBook reader earned high repute for its simple dish-style design and excellent grip as well as its graphical user interface (GUI) developed in cooperation with designers of traditional paper books. ‘Domino Inflate,’ the follow-on product of the award-winning ‘Domino’ USB flash drive, earned the highest acclaim for it’s unique, simple spiral design which features a sliding button for better player control.
“I think the iF award is significant since it is a reflection of iriver’s unique design identity which is consistently applied to all its products, and is recognized as one of the world’s best brands not only by consumers but also by professionals,” said Mr. Charlie Shin, the director responsible for design, adding, “We will continue with our efforts to interact with consumers using iriver’s own design philosophy in the future.”
Since its introduction to Germany in 1953, the iF design award has served as an internationally recognized trademark for outstanding design.
